Please Bring A Monetary Cash or Check Donation To MUSC Children’s Pet Therapy Program.  The Donation Is Tax Deductible. Checks Should Be Made Payable To MUSC Pet Therapy Program. Please Help The Children In Your Community.

In recent years, the MCA has supported a local charity by taking donations from our members at the event.  I wanted to take a minute to remind you about the charity we will be supporting this year; MUSC Pet Therapy Program.  I have attached a recent article from the Charleston Regional Business Journal – Giving publication.  The pet therapy program has had a direct impact on my family.  As you may or may not know, my niece was diagnosed with Leukodystrophy which, at this time, is listed as a terminal disease.  She goes through several physical therapy sessions a week at MUSC (she is in some of the pictures on the attached article).  She also travels to the Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia once a month where they assess her condition in a compassionate care drug trial.  This involves a LOT of blood draws and some very painful physical therapy.  It is amazing the positive and immediate effect these therapy dogs have on these children while they are going through these tough procedures.  These pet programs are a volunteer based part of MUSC and donations can have a big impact on how many people they can reach.  I share this about my niece only because I have seen the benefits of these animals and volunteers and I think they are an amazing source of comfort for these children.  If you would like to donate, you can bring a check or cash to the event.  The donation is tax deductible.  I will collect the donations and deliver them to MUSC after the event.
