This Month’s Technical Program - Dehumidification Solutions to Maximize the MRE for DOAS and other Low Dewpoint Design Applications

Presenter: Vijayanand Periannan

Vijayanand Periannan, member ASHRAE, is a Regional Sales Manager for Munters Corporation. Munters is a global leader in energy efficient air treatment solutions using desiccant dehumidification and energy recovery to extensively serve industrial and commercial market segments that include schools, hospitals, supermarkets, pharmaceuticals, and Data centres.

Vijay is a graduate of Virginia Tech with an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Vijay has worked in the HVAC industry for the past 13 years and has extensive knowledge and expertise in the design of custom engineered air handling solutions involving Desiccant Dehumidification, Air-to-Air Energy Recovery and Indirect/Direct Evaporative cooling systems. Vijay has written papers and presented at several ASHRAE meetings.

Course Description:

Dehumidification for low dew point control has been extensively used for industrial process applications including food, lithium battery, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals etc. However, its potential has been under utilized for comfort applications. In this session we will discuss what dehumidification systems can provide the most efficient solutions for DOAS and significantly improve the MRE.

We will also examine:

• Moisture Removal Efficiency (MRE) – Understanding the new industry standard and how to better select and schedule DOAS units.

• Psychrometrics of DOAS systems.

• Which DOAS systems perform well with respect to MRE, and how lower dewpoint design can assist in overall system design and building operation.

• DOAS units for Chilled Beams and VRV applications

• Operating cost analysis

Please be sure to register online. If you do not register online, you may pay by cash or check at the door; however, online registration is preferred.
