This Month’s Technical Program - Plate & Frame Heat Exchangers – Design Conditions, Technical Certifications, & Applications by Shane Bixby

Presentation Summary:

In the early 2000s a group of plate and frame heat exchanger manufacturers realized that a standard for performance was needed across the industry that defines applications, scope of the program and testing requirements.  This program came to be called AHRI and can be found here:

https://www.ahridirectory.org/ahridirectory/pages/home.aspx

Most major plate and frame manufacturers participate in this program as it sets an industry standard and allows for apples to apples performance when comparing different selections.

The presentation today will focus on:

  • 1)      Basic Plate & Frame HX 101 (construction, materials, etc…)
  • 2)     Design implications and how they affect size/cost relative to performance
  • 3)     Fouling Factors & VFDs “Do’s and Do Nots”
  • 4)     AHRI Defined: Scope, Certification, Applications and future
  • 5)     General Questions & Discussion

Participants of this presentation are eligible to earn one professional development hour/credit.
