This Month’s Technical Program - Steps Toward Achieving Advanced Energy Performance in Existing Buildings

Currently existing buildings consume 72% of all electricity generated, 55% of all natural gas consumed and produce 30%  of all waste generated. The indoor environmental conditions of existing buildings are likewise out of control since measured ventilation rates exceed ASHRAE standard’s requirements by a factor of 6. This presentation will provide guidance on how to improve a building’s energy performance from achieving a performance goal of an Energy Star rating to becoming a “Net-Zero” facility while maintaining and even improving the indoor environmental quality for the occupants.
